{alltv} 'Dancing' final three predictably solid

It's a shame a season of Dancing With the Stars that started out with such colourful competitors as Pamela Anderson and Kate Gosselin has to go out on such a blah note.

After nine weeks of competition, Season 10 of the ABC danceoff (also on CTV) comes down to its least buzzworthy contestants: Sports reporter Erin Andrews, figure skater Evan Lysacek and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.

The three performed the first two of their final four competitive dances for the judges' approval and America's votes on Monday night.

Erin and hunky pro Maksim Chmerkovsky took on the first round with a samba that was chock-full of gimmicks — kissing the judges, a bra top, ruthless rump-shaking ... you name it. And since that's what DWTS is about, it got them a near-perfect 29.

Olympic gold medalist Evan and his pro Anna Trebunskaya were up next with the always enthralling Viennese waltz. The dance allowed Lysacek the opportunity to glide along the floor with minimal effort — and earn a near-maximum score of 28.

Nicole finally channeled her vulnerable side in a romantic rumba with partner Derek Hough. But thanks to an illegal lift — a big no-no — the frontrunners fell two points short of 30.

As for the infamous Freestyle round? Well, Erin and Maks did something involving a bed and Heart's Alone (just don't ask me what it was). Their score of 26 wasn't bad compared to the measly 24 Evan and Anna got for their Footloose number — which was full of high energy and extra cheese. At least Nicole and Derek got it right — and managed to pull off a speedy jazz routine (apart from one missed lift), as well as a 27.

All three pairs still have to perform two dances on Tuesday's two-finale. America's votes — and judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli — will decide from there who gets the ugly disco ball trophy.

More importantly? Kate Gosselin, Pamela Anderson and The Bachelor star Jake Pavelka will all be making return appearances! So it might just be worth tuning in, after all.
