{alltv} 'Broke' Tiki Barber can't pay his ex

 

Tiki Barber is claiming he's broke and unable to pay the divorce settlement demanded by the mother of his four children after he was axed from the "Today" show.

The troubled former Giants superstar -- who ditched his wife of 11 years, Ginny, for 23-year-old blond former NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson -- claims his career is in tatters and that he's taken a huge financial hit since his estimated $300,000 network contract ended.

Barber hasn't been on the air in many months -- but sources said his contract was only formally terminated in May.

Network insiders said "Today" show bosses secretly ended their deal with Barber due to a hidden "morality clause" which specified that stars must not be involved in public scandals.

One source said, "The show didn't want to be seen to end their deal with Tiki over the divorce, but there was a morality clause [in his contract], which said that any scandals that could affect his standing with viewers could end his deal."

The Post revealed in April how Barber dumped then-eight-months-pregnant Ginny for sexy former intern Johnson. Ginny, who also has sons A.J., 7, and Chason, 6, with Barber, gave birth to twin girls last month.

Now he and Ginny, who met in court last week, are struggling to reach a settlement, with sources telling Page Six he is trying to "lowball" her.

The furor over the split also prompted Barber to cancel a series of promotional events for his new indoor cycling gym Flywheel, which he has heavily invested in, with two locations opening in Manhattan earlier this year. A different source told us, "Tiki's career has taken a serious hit because of this scandal. He could have handled everything in a much better way."

Reps for Tiki, Ginny and the "Today" show all declined to comment.
