Jeremy London told authorities that he was kidnapped and forced to use illicit drugs, according to the Palm Springs Police Department, who have arrested a suspect in connection with the case.
London told police that two men stopped to help him change a flat tire last Thursday around 2 p.m. After it was changed, he said he offered to give them a ride home. London said he was held at gunpoint by one of the men soon after. The 37-year-old Party of Five and 7th Heaven star claims he was forced to drive to various locations throughout the city, purchase alcohol and use illicit drugs the rest of the night.
The actor said he was able to escape from the vehicle, which was later found by police in the Gateway Estates area of Palm Springs. He contacted authorities at 2:45 a.m., police said.
On Friday, 26-year-old Brandon Adams was arrested on charges of kidnapping, possession of stolen property, and vehicle theft. Adams is currently being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, Calif.
Police are continuing to investigate the case.
"Thankfully, Jeremy London survived his terrorizing ordeal in Palm Springs last week — although understandably shaken and scared, he is currently working closely with law enforcement as they investigate the horrific turn of events," London's rep, Dominic Friesen, told E! News in a statement. "Jeremy is spending quality time in an undisclosed location with family and friends, and appreciates the overwhelming support from his fans."
London has struggled with drug abuse in the past and told People in April that "there were times I didn't care if I died." He is currently finalizing a divorce from actress Melissa Cunningham, who he married in 2006. They have a 3-year-old son, Lyrik. London went to rehab for drugs in September 2009 and currently has twice-weekly visitations with his son.
A call to London's rep was not immediately returned.
