Kelsey Grammer has furiously denied reports he enjoyed a date with a mystery blonde just months before his wife filed for divorce - insisting the woman in question was his actress daughter Spencer.
Camille Grammer filed divorce papers to end her 13-year marriage to the former Frasier star last week.
The relationship is said to have been under strain for some time, amid rumours the actor had been seen out with an unknown female in New York in April.
But Grammer has spoken out to clear up the reports, revealing the 'date' was in fact a meeting with his 26-year-old daughter from his first marriage.
In a post on his KelseyLive.com blog, he writes, "A rumour from the 'bottom of the barrel set' has surfaced about me and a dirty blond(e) at a restaurant in NYC. It was April and we were seen smooching at Five Napkin Burger. The dirty blond(e) was my daughter Spencer, who was visiting that entire month. I do take issue with the characterisation that we were smooching but surely if that were the case then even I admit it might be newsworthy in some fashion."
And the actor insists he is determined to keep his relationship with Camille amicable so they can move on with their lives and bring up their children, daughter Mason Olivia, eight, and son Jude Gordon, five, in a civil manner.
He adds, "Camille and I had been discussing the possibility of a separation for some time before all this happened. She finally decided she should file. I respect her for this decision... I hope to have a great partnership with her in the raising of our children.
"Certainly, the time will come when I do see another woman. I expect Camille to see other men. I hope people and the press will understand that we are both free to carry on with our lives."
