Jon Hamm has hosted "Saturday Night Live" twice and guested on several episodes "30 Rock," and now he's getting what could be considered the ultimate stamp of pop-cultural approval: a guest spot on "The Simpsons."
The "Mad Men" star (and Mercedes pitchman) will lend his voice to an episode in the coming season, FOX confirms to Zap2it. He won't be taking part in a "Mad Men" parody -- the show has already done that -- but will be playing an FBI agent who's trying to nail Fat Tony (frequent guest voice Joe Mantegna) and uses Homer (Dan Castellaneta) as an informant.
"Jon's a gruff FBI man," executive producer Al Jean tells EW.com, which broke the news. "Homer asks if he can pick his undercover name, and finally Jon just says, 'Your name will be Nicky Blue Pants Altosaxophony.' Homer says, 'Do I get to keep the name when I'm done with it?' and Jon says, 'No, it's the property of the government.' He has no patience for Homer."
Jean also reports that Hamm was "really funny. And handsome" during his recording session, which is not exactly news.
Hamm's "Simpsons" episode doesn't have an airdate yet. He'll be back on the air as Don Draper when "Mad Men" begins its fourth season on Sunday (July 25).
