LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, now in her 90s, has broken her hip and will need surgery to replace it, her agent said on Sunday.
Gabor, who uses a wheelchair to get around after a 2002 car accident, was watching television in bed on Saturday night when she fell out while reaching to answer the phone, agent John Blanchette said.
The Hungarian-born actress, known for her nine marriages and calling everyone "Darling," is at a hospital in west Los Angeles and will undergo hip surgery on Monday, Blanchette said.
Gabor, now married to Prince Frederic von Anhalt, starred in such films as "Moulin Rouge," "Lili" and "Touch of Evil," and was one of three glamorous sisters who stole the Hollywood limelight in the 1950s and 1960s. She was born between 1917 and 1919, according to estimates by Hollywood journalists.
Von Anhalt had described the situation after Gabor's fall as "very bad" on Saturday night, Blanchette said, adding, "But she's a fighter."
