Rumors are swirling that "America's Most Wanted" will not return this season because a satellite production office has closed down in Los Angeles.
But the show is mostly produced from Washington, D.C., and John Walsh and FOX insiders maintain that the show will be back Sept. 11.
"There are a couple of wildly inaccurate stories out there right now, but rest assured 'AMW' is premiering next month," says a network representative.
The 24th anniversary of the show will launch with a hunt for a homegrown terrorist. Walsh, 64, is more of an honorary cop than a gushing host, and remains proud that the show has led to 1,125 arrests over the years.
"It is still a passion for me," Walsh tells Zap2it, yet muses on what could him not do the show anymore.
"I am getting to that age. It is such a hard question to answer. To me, we are more viable than ever and I love to do it. Sometimes I am on the road for three weeks and home for two days. I have missed a lot of important things and birthdays. It is more than a job. You have to do what you have to do.
"If I physically can't. I have done this show with a broken back, a cracked skull. I have caught cholera in the Persian Gulf and was in intensive care for 14 days.
"The other aspect would be if the ratings aren't there. We are still No. 1 in the 18-49 demographic."
