Swimsuit model Gia Allemand, 26, was sent packing after she couldn't go through this week's juicy challenge — a kissing contest — on Bachelor Pad, citing her devotion to a boyfriend at home. While declining to say if she's now single, Allemand opened up to PEOPLE about doing a dating show while in a relationship, her controversial vote against Craig and the chemistry with Wes. After being sent home by the women, Jonathan "Weatherman" Novack, 31, talked about all the "stupidity" in the house, kissing "seven or eight hot girls" and his top contenders for the $250,000 prize.
GIA:
You were obviously very upset leaving the Bachelor Pad. How are you feeling about it now?
Time has passed, but going home right after the show was extremely hard. The main thing that's hard right now is me just trying to keep Chris, who was my boyfriend while I was on the show, protected. He didn't sign up for this, so I'm trying my hardest just to not get him dragged anymore into this than he already has been.
Are you guys still together?
I'm going to keep that secret and private. I'll probably talk about it at the finale or something.
If you could redo the show, would you have gone on without a boyfriend since it obviously held you back?
I would never have gone on [the show] with a boyfriend. It's just too hard. I mean, the whole time you're thinking you don't want to hurt your friends and then you have to think about how you're going to be portrayed or interpreted back home by your boyfriend and your family. He was a big worry in the back of my head and you can't really compete with that hanging on your shoulder in that house and that game. If I had to go back, I would have to be single.
Do you think having a boyfriend was one of the biggest reasons why you ended up going home?
I messed up a lot on the show. Having a boyfriend was a big issue. Also, not giving Craig the rose caused a huge fallout in the house and with myself.
How did you handle that backlash from the other contestants?
I got a lot of negativity that's kind of unfair … Nikki had that opportunity to tell us that she changed her mind. I didn't have that opportunity. I had to go with my instincts to try to protect my group and tell them when I get back that I did this and we're going to be safe because this is what we're going to do now … To see that people were like, 'Oh! She went back on her word!' or 'she's a hypocrite,' … It kind of hurt me a lot.
You obviously wanted to win the next challenge but the kissing contest was too hard for you to participate. What was going through your mind?
I went through it because I was like, okay, well the boys all know I have a boyfriend and they're all super respectful. They would never try anything or do anything silly … They're just going to kiss me on the cheek or peck me on the lips. It'll be fun and then I'll just vote for who I think the vote's going to matter … When it came time for us to kiss the guys, I'm seeing like full blown makeout sessions and I'm like whoa, I wouldn't do that if I was single! My grandma watches this show … It's 250 grand. Yeah, that's a lot of money, but I didn't want to belittle myself like that. No regrets.
You and Wes clearly had a deep connection and a great friendship. Are you still in touch with him now?
Wes and I have so much in common. He was like my best friend in the house. They obviously didn't show everything, but they were always talking together. We were just talking about the random-est things. He's just the greatest guy ever. I haven't talked to him since the show, so it'll be interesting to see him at the finale.
Who would you want to see stay through the end?
For the guys, I want Wes to go all the way to the end and for the girls, Gwen. You know, Gwen is such a sweetheart of a girl. She's just a doll. She just is so real and so honest and she's a darling. She's drama free and she's just the cutest thing. I just love her.
WEATHERMAN:
When you were in the limo, you talked about rampant stupidity in the house. Can you explain?
A big part of the game is the people making decisions that will affect your fate, and there's really only so much you can do in the end to control that, so that's the challenge of the game … A lot of those people that did hold my fate in their hands could've helped themselves out by keeping me around … And also I think Gia's decision to give Wes the rose was stupid and I think Nikki's decision to vote for Craig to go home on the second rose ceremony was stupid … People didn't realize that their decisions were going to be affecting them in the long run. People were too obsessed with the short-term and for not hurting anybody's feelings or their friendships.
Do you think ultimately the couples strategy is going to work?
Now it'll work. There was a chance for the outsiders to really take control … The last night when I was there, people like Peyton, who voted me off, she shot herself in the foot. She thinks Kiptyn and Kovacs are going to want to keep her around and she's stupid for that. So, now all those people who are the outsiders, they're all forming new relationships, like Jesse B. and Peyton. I think if you're a couple coming in, you have a much better chance now of surviving.
If you had the chance to rewind, would you have played the game any differently?
I might have been a little more aggressive before the third rose ceremony. Everybody clammed up after what Gia said after the second rose ceremony about conspiring to send Kiptyn home. That made everybody just shut up and be like okay, if we talk about strategy, we're gonna be a target, so I feel like that really made me clam up.
On a lighter note, you were obviously excited for the kissing contest. What was going through your mind?
It was fun. I mean, it's like you got these seven or eight hot girls lined up in front of you, blind-folded, hello! If anybody's complaining about that, they probably shouldn't be on the show. I just kind of went into it pretending like this was a real kiss. Make it feel good. Make it feel real for the girl.
Who do you want to see stay until the end?
I would like to see my boy Jesse B. make it. He's the last guy standing from my season. He's a good guy. I'd like to see him pull it out. He's a good dude. I'd like to see Gwen make a come back. I think she's a really sweet girl. She's the most genuine girl in the house, so I would like to see her crush everybody. That'd be fun.
