TV bosses are considering re-editing the premiere of Fantasia Barrino's reality show to allow the singer the chance to open up about her overdose scare on the small screen.
The American Idol winner was admitted to a North Carolina hospital on Monday night and released on Wednesday after recovering from an overdose of painkillers and a sleeping aid.
Her hospitalization came one day after she found herself entangled in the divorce proceedings of North Carolina couple Antwuan Cook and his estranged wife Paula, who alleged Barrino had had an affair with Cook after meeting him in August 2009.
On Tuesday, the singer admitted to dating Cook "off and on for 11 months" under the assumption he was separated from his spouse.
Network bosses at VH1 are standing by the singer despite the scandal, and are moving forward with plans to debut the second season of her show, Fantasia For Real, on 19 September.
The series was was initially edited to focus on Barrino's budding music career and being a positive role model to her nine-year-old daughter.
However, executives are debating whether to re-edit the premiere to share Barrino's side of the story in the recent controversy.
A spokesperson says: "At this moment, it's too soon for us to speak to how these events will change the show and/or if anything will be re-worked for the (season) premiere."
