LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Actress-singer Kate Micucci has landed a recurring role on Fox's fall comedy "Raising Hope."
Micucci ("Til Death," "Scrubs") performs regularly as one-half of the comedy-musical act Garfunkel & Oates and has been circling the series for months. She originally landed the role of the main character's cousin, Michelle, but after shooting the pilot, the character was cut. Convinced that she'd be good fit for the show, show creator Greg Garcia constructed a new character for her to play: Shelly, the owner of a baby and doggy day care center. Garcia even scripted in Micucci's real-life ukulele-playing talent.
"Hope," about an underachieving young man (Lucas Neff) who is raising an infant daughter, will air on Tuesdays starting September 21. The show received a warm response during its recent presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour.
