At 41, Sesame Street shows no signs of aging. Here's what's fresh about the new season.
1. A-list talent The season opens with a musical number about camouflage performed by Emmy winner Kyra Sedgwick, who's joined this year by guests including Jude Law, Julie Bowen, Jennifer Garner, Usher and Jim Parsons.
2. Parodies galore Executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente is most excited about "True Mud," a send-up of HBO's True Blood, in addition to an A-Team spoof featuring Ryan Reynolds and a lampoon of Sedgwick's TNT hit The Closer.
3. Super Grover 2.0 "He has been upgraded," says Parente of the lovable blue monster who's starring in his own segments this season, which mix humor with lessons on STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts.
4. Hip music On September 28, Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am joins Big Bird and Co. on a song "that's just fabulous," says Parente. "They sing about pride — it has a great empowerment message." And, more important, it rocks!
5. More dancing Elmo Sesame Street's most popular character goes viral (what took him so long?) with his own YouTube dance craze, "Elmo Slide," which you can check out now at youtube.com/user/SesameStreet.
