Mario Batali is playing stock boy at his new mega-food complex, Eataly, which opened this week at Fifth and 23rd. A shopper saw Batali help two random guys choose the proper box of pasta for dinner. And one spy who toured the sprawling emporium reports, "Mario walked over with a sealed bottle of beer and asked a manager, 'If I find bottles of beer lying around, should I just put them back on the shelf?' The manager answered, 'You can just drink it if you want to!' "
