The 2010 Video Music Awards gave MTV another reason to fist-pump, netting a big 11.4 million viewers Sunday night.
According to the network, the two-hour awards show was the most-watched program on MTV since 2002. Highlights included a Kanye West-Taylor Swift musical throwdown (of sorts), the cast of Jersey Shore sharing a jacuzzi on stage, and Lady Gaga's meaty moment of triumph.
MTV also said this year's VMAs was up 33 percent among its target 12-34-year-old audience (7.9 million), and is its biggest-ever haul in the demographic. The event is 2010's top cable telecast to-date.
Elsewhere, the first Sunday Night Football game of the season led NBC to a ratings victory. The match-up between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins drew an average 22.6 million total viewers and an 8.6 rating among adults 18-49.
