TNT is heading to Southfork to give one of TV's most famous families a facelift.
The cable network has ordered an updated version of Dallas. The pilot, from Cane creator Cynthia Cidre, will focus on the offspring of brothers and enemies JR and Bobby Ewing. The original primetime soap opera, still known for the "Who shot JR?" mystery, ran on CBS from 1978 to 1991.
TNT has also ordered a drama pilot from Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps screenwriter Allan Loeb, based on the novel The Rabbit Factory. The untitled project focuses on a recently widowed detective and his newly married partner.
Then there's Perception, a project from Star Trek: Voyager executive producers Kenneth Biller and Mike Sussman. It tells the story an eccentric neuroscientist who helps the federal government solve complex cases.
Elsewhere at Turner, TBS ordered a pilot from Leverage executive producer Dean Devlin called Brain Trust, which revolves around a detective who must redeem himself after accidentally ending his partner's career. After three hyper-smart geniuses help him save his job, he realizes he must keep these new partners close to really turn his luck around.
"These pilots reflect our enthusiasm for relatable but complex everyman heroes, showcased in exciting storytelling environments," Head of Programming for TNT and TBS Michael Wright said in a statement. "We are confident each of these projects would be a terrific addition to our original series line-up."
What do you think of the new Dallas? Who would you cast as the Ewing offspring?
