"America's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan opened up to his former colleagues at UK tabloid News of the World about the upcoming American spin-off of singing competition "The X Factor."
According to Piers, his friend Simon Cowell, who'll produce and sit on the "X Factor" judging panel, has already settled on two of the other judges: Pussycat Doll frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger and British pop singer, and UK "X Factor" judge, Cheryl Cole.
"He'll love a couple of feisty brunettes fighting over him," the upcoming CNN host tells News of the World, which he edited for many years before segueing into television.
The FOX and Cowell camps remain tight-lipped about any possible judges or host for the fall 2011 series, but Morgan's statement shouldn't be thrown in with other fodder for the rumor mill. Morgan and Cowell are longtime friends, and as The Wrap points out, it was Cowell who first outed Morgan as the heir to Larry King's CNN time slot.
As for the rumored judges, this is not the first time Scherzinger's name has been thrown into the ring -- but it is a bit of a coup for Cole, who's achieved household name status across the globe for her work in the band Girls Aloud, with the notable exception of the United States, where most don't know her from Adam.
