Reports of feuding divas on the "American Idol" set have been greatly exaggerated, at least according to the two alleged divas in question.
New judge Jennifer Lopez called into "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest's radio show Friday morning (Oct. 8) to swat away rumors that they've been fighting over dressing-room space and trying to assert their position as "top diva" on the FOX show.
"Is there a prize for top diva?" Lopez joked. "Is there extra salary?"
"Why can't we just be equal divas?" Seacrest replied.
The rumors about Lopez's diva behavior started before she even signed on to the show, and they've continued since she and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler were officially named as "Idol" judges a few weeks ago. Among the other things she's allegedly guilty of? Forgetting fellow judge Randy Jackson's name.
"They did not write that," Lopez says, stifling a laugh. "How do you goof up Randy's name? They just want to make me look like a buffoon."
Seacrest and Lopez also discussed the Milwaukee auditions for "Idol," which apparently resulted in more tickets to Hollywood than just about any other stop in the show's history, and Lopez talked about figuring out the best way to reject auditioners who just don't quite have it.
"It's like, Do I give this kid a chance or do I crush his dreams?" she says. "... It's about finding the right way to say it, and sometimes you have to be tough, because they don't want to believe it."
