LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – "Daily Show" veteran Demetri Martin has signed a deal with CBS to write, produce and star in his own comedy project.
The agreement is a blind script deal, so there's no word yet what the project will be about.
Martin's off-kilter sensibilities are in line with the current development focus at the traditionally older-skewing network, which has been mining fresh ideas from blogs and Twitter feeds.
Martin's Comedy Central series "Important Things with Demetri Martin" ran for two seasons. He also showed some more serious acting chops in the film "Taking Woodstock."
