"Glee" brought us another competition -- this time it was "Duets" amongst the team members, competing for dinner for two at Breadsticks. Hilariously, Puck was not eligible because he's in juvie for trying to steal an ATM machine - of course he is.
So which duet did you like best?
Duets
We thought Mercedes and Santana were the clear winners, but due to Rachel and Finn wanting Sam to win the competition, they were denied a trip to Breadsticks. Somewhere, Tina Turner is outraged.
Gleek Speak
[about Puck]
Finn: "We need his voice and his bad-boy stage presence!"
Brittany: "He might be the dumbest person on the planet and that's coming from me."
Santana: "I'm like a lizard. I need something warm beneath me or I can't digest my food."
Artie: "I'm just a little confused. You've never even made eye contact with me.
Brittany: "I know. For awhile, I thought you were a robot."
Thoughts & Tidbits
So which duet did you like best?
Duets
- Rachel and Finn rehearsed "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John and Kiki Dee. It was cute, if a bit saccharine. And we don't think they have anything on Lily and Marshall. When Rachel decided they needed to throw the competition, they instead went with "With You I'm Born Again" by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright -- while dressed as a priest and a Catholic school girl. Awk. Ward.
- Mercedes and Santana wailed on Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High." We mean -- wow. H-O-T. And the Tina Turner signature dance moves were outstanding.
- Kurt and himself did a wonderful rendition of "Le Jazz Hot" from "Victor/Victoria." He's no Julie Andrews, but it was still pretty amazing.
- Mike and Tina performed "Sing" from "A Chorus Line," which is regrettably missing from the movie version of that show. It majorly impressed us because it's an incredibly hard song to navigate, plus Mike's dance skills were wonderfully showcased.
- Sam and Quinn go with "Lucky" by Jason Mraz while they play the guitar together. It was cute, but also kind of barf-worthy, we thought. Are we alone?

Thoughts & Tidbits
- We are a little surprised the Santana-Brittany scene got the word "scissoring" in on prime-time network TV.
- The absence of Sue Sylvester was noticeable (because Jane Lynch rules), but kind of nice. Like perhaps the Glee club can exist without her dropping by every week?
- Brittany seducing Artie was kind of funny, but took a disturbing twist. We did not see that coming. Wow. We were actually sad they didn't explore that further and hope it comes up again. Seeing Brittany as a dramatic character (just a little) would be amazing, we think.
- The Kurt-Finn-Sam thing was an interesting exploration into Kurt's larger-than-life personality. What Finn called him last season was not OK, but Kurt also can be incredibly pushy, which is not OK either. Finn was absolutely right when he said if he acted that way towards a girl, she'd have a restraining order put on him.
- The "Happy Days Are Here Again"/"C'mon Get Happy" duet was heartbreakingly beautiful at the end. We could listen to Rachel and Kurt sing together all day.
- We are beyond excited for "The Rocky Horror Glee Show" in two weeks.
