I should have known it would come down to cross dressing.

I mean, hockey players are really competitive, right? So it only made sense for Todd Warriner to take the competition up a notch by going drag on Sunday's episode of Battle of the Blades ... right?

While I re-examine the meaning of the term "no guts, no glory" (and desperately try to shake that image of Warriner in pink) here's a look at what happens when a CBC reality series goes Hollywood, hires ice legend Toller Cranston as a guest judge, and creates the world's most broad-shouldered dress.

Jamie Sale & Theo Fleury

Hollywood Week got off to a lively start with a Saturday Night Fever routine Fleury and Sale learned with the help of Sale's ex husband (OK, so why am I the last to know Sale and David Pelletier — with whom she won Olympic gold — got divorced?). The disco-themed routine was as flashy as you'd expect, except with a couple risky new moves I've never heard of: the Near-Decapitator and the Shiny Blade Nether-Region Graze. And they're not nearly as groovy as they sound.

Kyoko Ina & Kelly Chase

Speaking of risky moves — I could have sworn Kyoko's head skimmed the ice during her and the ogre-like Chase's Shrek routine. Still, I was really impressed with their series of lifts — unlike judges in-Toller-ant Cranston and Jeremy Roenick, the latter whom so kindly suggested they do a routine that's a "little bit faster" next week, adding, "if you're here next week ..." Ouch.

Shae-Lynn Bourne & Patrice Brisebois

How to top last week's highly entertaining Monster Mash-set zombie routine? With an equally eye-catching Bollywood number. Bourne and Brisebois proved they deserve to be back in the game — and to win it, quite frankly — with their energetic ice ode to Slumdog Millionaire. I still can't figure out how they were ever voted off, but I'm sure glad they're back.

Ekaterina Gordeeva & Valeri Bure

If it wasn't for his beautiful blond wife (Candace Cameron-Bure, who was also on the greatest family sitcom of all time — Full House, of course!), and his inability to produce an enthusiastic soundbyte, I'd swear Val Bure has never played hockey a day in his life. It'd be far easier to believe he'd spent the bulk of his years honing his figure-skating skills, judging by his and Gordeeva's polished performance inspired by James Bond flick From Russia With Love. This may come as a shock to you, but these Russians are playing to win.

Isabelle Brasseur & Todd Warriner

There are performances, like Bure's, that leave you speechless — and then there are performances that really, uh, leave you, um, speechless. Like Warriner's. The fact that he was dressed up as a woman — and partner Brasseur as a man — for their To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! inspired number wasn't as surprising as how natural he looked while playing the part (pink dress, blond wig, lipstick and all). Speechless themselves, judges Roenick and Sandra Bezic gave him 5.9s just for having the guts to go on national TV — where all of his hockey friends and foes could see him — dressed that way. Toller, however, was downright annoyed, and expressed his disgust by giving them a 5.5 — and, consequently, became the bitter judge this show has been in desperate need of.
