With voluptuous curves and A-plus, um, assets, Modern Family's Sofia Vergara embraces her beauty and – when it comes to going under the knife – her age.
"A woman should never have [plastic surgery] to look younger," she tells Ladies' Home Journal in its January issue. "To fix little things here and there, maybe. To look a little fresher, okay. But you're always going to look your age."
As the actress, 38, continues to get laughs – and looks of admiration – in her feisty portrayal of Gloria Pritchett on ABC's Emmy-winning sitcom, she's not shy about her enviable sex appeal, or her signature, authentic accent.
In fact, she owns up to the English words that twist her tongue. "I was talking to my son, and he said, 'Ma, I'm so hungry. Send me things I can eat late at night,' " Vergara recalls. "I told him to go out and buy something that's 'microwa … microwarble … microwarable' – oh, forget it!"
And as she spends time at home helping boyfriend Nick Loeb recuperate from a broken leg and fractured pelvis (he got in a car accident in August), she says she turns to another leading lady for inspiration when it comes to aging gracefully: Betty White.
"I love that she is so relevant and still taking risks at 89," she says. "I want to be her when I grow up."
