Isn't airing a show called I Used To Be Fat so soon after the edible temptations of Christmas kind of cruel?
Nonetheless, overweight teens will get their chance to start over - something maybe we all should do - in the documentary-reality series I Used To Be Fat. It premieres Wednesday, Dec. 29 on MTV.
Throughout the series cameras capture kids in the summer between high school and college as they attempt to lose large amounts of weight, ranging from 40 to 100 pounds. With the help of trainers, each teen tries to shed the weight while building self-confidence and self-esteem. Some lose the weight and some don't, but all of them face similar emotional obstacles.
The series is based on the premise, "Who you were in high school doesn't have to follow you to college."
