Here's a serious question for heterosexual females everywhere:
Is David Duchovny, aka Hank Moody in Californication, THAT good looking and THAT roguishly charming that he can be a persistently obnoxious and literally stinking jerk and STILL get any woman he wants into bed?
The query came up while watching the first episode of the fourth season of Californication, which airs Monday, Jan. 10 on The Movie Network and Movie Central.
Californication still is worth a laugh, for sure, but Hank's antics may have become as tiring to the audience as they have to the other people in his world.
Particularly irksome is the overdone push-and-pull of Hank's volatile romantic relationship with Karen, played by Natascha McElhone. Lord, Karen should know Hank by now, right? So what's with the sporadic and naive moral outrage?
Anyway, as the fourth season begins, Hank is facing both new business opportunities and new legal entanglements. And both, of course, are linked to the same event in Hank's past, which occurred back in Season 1.
So in some ways, the more things change for Hank Moody, the more they stay the same. From a viewing perspective, that's both good and bad.
