While Amanda Knox's lawyers attempt to prevent the Lifetime film — starring Hayden Panettiere as their client — from coming out, the 23-year-old has told her stepfather that the movie's trailer made her want to vomit.
"She was so amazingly shocked by [the trailer for the movie]," Knox's stepfather, Chris Mellas, told ABC News. "She said she literally started hyperventilating. She felt like she was going to throw up."
Knox's lawyers, Carlo Dallo Vedova and Luca Maori, said Saturday that they had sent letters to Lifetime warning the network they were prepared to go to U.S. court to try to sequester the film if it isn't canceled. They also demanded that the trailer removed from the cable channel's website. (It has since been removed.)
Knox and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted in 2009 of sexually assaulting and murdering Meredith Kercher in the apartment she shared with Knox in Perugia, Italy. Kercher was stabbed to death on Nov. 1, 2007.
Knox and Sollecito were sentenced to 26 and 25 years in prison, respectively. Both deny the allegations and their appeals trial is under way.
Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy is scheduled to air Monday, Feb. 21.
