CBS has ordered two comedy pilots, including an untitled project starring Saturday Night Live alum Rob Schneider.
Schneider will co-write, produce and star in the new project, which is based on his own life. The pilot centers on a lonely bachelor who marries into a large, tight-knit Mexican-American family. Fellow SNL alum Lew Morton co-wrote the script, and will also executive-produce alongside Schneider and Two and a Half Men's Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.
The project marks Schneider's first series gig since NBC's 1996 comedy Men Behaving Badly. He most recently appeared on the big screen in Adam Sandler's Grown Ups.
CBS also picked up the multicamera sitcom Home Grown from That '70s Show alums Jeff and Jackie Filgo. The project focuses on four generations of blue-collar Midwesterners living under the same roof.
The Filgos wrote the script and will executive-produce the pilot for Warner Bros. TV. The duo also serves as executive producers on the upcoming ABC comedy pilot, Lost and Found, from Marisa Coughlan.
