ABC insiders are taking a bow for their coverage of the unrest in Egypt after Christiane Amanpour landed a one-on-one interview with President Hosni Mubarak on Thursday. Amanpour said humbly, "You know, I'm a reporter at heart," adding to MarketWatch's Jon Friedman, "I'm a reporter in the field, not an anchorperson." But her colleagues were more triumphant on behalf of the "This Week" anchor, one of them telling Page Six, "[NBC's] Brian Williams and [CBS's] Katie Couric didn't get anything from walking around in the streets. Katie landed in New York while Amanpour was interviewing Mubarak and Brian's stuck in Jordan. I'm sure they were furious that Christiane led the story." Amanpour joined ABC last summer after 27 years at CNN. A source close to CBS said, "It was a great get, but she didn't get it on camera." A rep for NBC had no comment.
