NBC's hard to pin down situation comedy/anthology show, "Love Bites," went from being the most anticipated show of the midseason for its stellar cast and fresh take to just being about when the show will actually air.
In a string of cast and production setbacks, EW is now reporting that former "Ugly Betty" star and the lifeblood of the new series, Becki Newton, has another sitcom pilot offer. This follows news that NBC had cut its series order from 13 to nine episodes and gave the okay for its actors to entertain other pilot offers.
The word on Newton's other offer also follows recent news that "Heroes" star Greg Grunberg was making very public complaints that the show was taking too long to air and then he jumped on to a new pilot, A&E's "Big Mike."
In June, co-star Jordana Spiro jumped ship due to contractual issues with TBS' "My Boys." And then in July, Newton delayed production with her first pregnancy.
When it rains, it pours. That same month, showrunner Cindy Chupack ("Sex and the City") stepped down to just a writer role on the series claiming she was overwhelmed by the project.
NBC has stated that the show is still viable.
So, what if Newton takes the other offer? Will "Love Bites" ever see network primetime?
