Sure, the season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars" on Monday, Mar. 21, had Kirstie Alley, Ralph Macchio and more, but there was one noticeable absence: Fan favorite pro Derek Hough.
Derek joined the show in Season 5 and has appeared in every season since. He opted out of participating on the hit ABC show's twelfth season. Most of the other pros have returned, so what is the handsome blonde up to?
Derek, 25, is set to star in the new movie "Cobu 3D," which is hitting theaters in 2012. The film goes into production next month, which would make it impossible for Hough to have enough time for both the show and the movie. Good news for fans of Hough's moves: He'll be playing a dancer in the flick.
What is the film about? A pair of star-crossed dancers in New York who find themselves at the center of a bitter rivalry between their brothers' underground dance clubs.
Don't worry, it's being reported that Derek will be returning for Season 13 of "DTWS."
