Many years ago on a "faux retrospective" episode of The Simpsons, Homer reflected upon his repeated stranglings of his son Bart.
Homer observed, "That horrible act of child abuse became one of our most beloved running gags."
Well, in a new episode of The Simpsons titled Love is a Many Strangled Thing that airs Sunday, March 27 on Fox and Global, the neck is on the other foot, or something like that.
After a humiliating incident in front of a stadium crowd, Marge encourages Homer to enrol in a fathering enrichment class taught by a therapist named Dr. Zander (guest voice Paul Rudd).
Shocked to learn that Homer often strangles Bart, Dr. Zander conducts a series of treatments with the help of retired basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (guest-voicing as himself) to teach Homer what it feels like to be young and small.
Uh-oh, does this mean the world has become so politically correct that even a cartoon character can't be strangled any more?
