NEW YORK - For all his troubles, Charlie Sheen is selling like hotcakes. Or, rather, cupcakes in New Jersey.
In recent days, the actor's boasts of always "winning," possessing "Adonis DNA," and battling the "trolls" who speak ill of him have given rise to many products capitalizing on his fame -- or infamy, depending on how one looks at it. The former "Two And A Half Men" television star has even mounted a one-man stage show, though he hasn't said what it will be, exactly.
In the town of Rutherford, New Jersey, west of New York City, the Sweet Avenue Bake Shop has moved hundreds of its Charlie Sheen-emblazoned Tiger Blood cupcakes this week.
"We trying to keep up," said Danielle Vance, who owns the shop with her husband Jake.
Vance said the shop introduced the cupcakes Tuesday, and "they've gotten more popular each day. I had no idea so many people would be coming in for them."
The shop often creates pop culture-inspired cupcakes, such as last year's "Team Coco" Conan O'Brien offering, which followed the TV talk show host's job travails.
But Sheen's blood orange cupcake with mixed berry filling has been its biggest hit yet.
Emblazoned with Sheen's smirking visage and the words "Winning Duh!", they were inspired by Sheen's "I got tiger blood" explanation of how he is seemingly invincible.
Over the past several weeks, since entering home rehab for drug and alcohol abuse, Sheen has launched a series of very public tirades and rants against his former bosses on "Two And A Half Men," and they, in turn, fired him from his job.
But the back-and-forth has only seemed to increase Sheen's fan appeal, and the Sweet Avenue Bake Shop is not the only small business tapping into the appetite for all things Sheen.
California-based energy drinks purveyor Harcos Laboratories has developed a "Tiger Blood energy potion," a fruit punch flavored, caffeinated 3.4 ounce shot that comes in an IV bag.
Not to be outdone, Sheen is hitting the road with "Charlie Sheen Live: My Violent Torpedo of Truth," a one-man show slated so far for April 2 in Detroit and April 3 in Chicago.
Tickets go on sale on Saturday on Web site Ticketmaster for $35 to $69.50.
"I'm going on the road. LIVE. Will there be surprises? Will there be guests? Will there be mayhem? Will you ask questions? Will you laugh? Will you scream? Will you know the truth?
"WILL THERE BE MORE?!?! This IS where you will hear the REAL story from the Warlock. Bring it. I dare you to keep up with me," the site reads, adding, "FOR MATURE AUDIENCES 18+ OVER."
