We feel two ways about the upcoming "Grey's Anatomy" music event on March 31. On the one hand, we're excited to see the cast show off their singing voices and see how creator Shonda Rhimes, who wrote the episode, makes it work for the show.
On the other hand, we've been hearing a lot about something very sad happening in the episode, which makes us worry. And our recent chat with Chyler Leigh, who plays Lexie Grey, just intensified those feelings.
"We all had such a great time doing the episode," she tells us. "It was a lot of work and it was a very emotional episode. But amidst all that, we're able to laugh and we're able to just joke around and cut up with one another. It's great, because it breaks the tension of what's happening in the scenes."
We know the episode revolves around pregnant Callie (played by Sara Ramirez) and some kind of crisis around her. From the sneak peek, we see the doctors all run outside to meet the incoming ambulances. That's not a strange scene at the hospital as the doctors regularly compete for the most complicated surgeries. But is that ambulance holding someone we know and come to love? Callie, perhaps. And is her baby in danger?
Leigh will be singing "Breathe (2 a.m.)" by Anna Nalick, a song (now this is open to interpretation) that seems to have the message that life isn't all that we expect it to be and sometimes we just need to accept what has happened, learn from it, and move on.
"[The song] is tied into my storyline in a sense," Leigh tells us without giving away too much. "Yeah definitely, with what Lexie is kind of faced with, what she needs to do in the episode."
