Last week, "After Lately" fans watched as Heather McDonald and Sarah Colonna bickered over McDonald's hypothetical future talk-show. While McDonald may or may not get her time to shine on daytime TV, she is the main focus on this week's episode.
The April 10th episode centers around McDonald as she takes up residence in Chelsea Handler's house after a fight with her husband. Zap2it caught up with McDonald to get some behind-the-scenes scoop.
"It's very exciting cause my husband and my boys make a little cameo appearance with Chelsea. They're very excited to be on TV, so that makes it fun," she says.
"It starts out where I kind of have a little breakdown at the office because I'm fighting with my husband Peter, so Chelsea, who's always very generous and sweet, invites me to spend the weekend at her house," McDonald tells us. "But I take full advantage and really make the most of the weekend."
Appearing in the episode is McDonald's real life "cougar friends." including pal Vicki Gunvalson of "The Real Housewives of O.C."
"Chelsea doesn't really have a lot of tolerance for those kind of people," she explains. We've seen Handler's "Real Housewives" spoofs on "Chelsea Lately," and can't wait to see what happens when she comes face to face with the original housewife, herself.
While the episode is based in some amount of truth, McDonald assures us that she's never actually shacked up with Handler for an extended period of time.
"I have not gotten in such a bad situation with my husband that I've actually like, moved out. But I've definitely hung out with Chelsea, I've definitely drank too much Chardonnay," she tells us. "[Handler] is not a fan of Chardonnay, or the way I get when I drink a few bottles. And I do have cougar friends... But a lot of the story lines did come from truth and really did happen and that's how we came up with it all over the years."
Adding, "and I am friends with several of the Real Housewives, which is my claim to fame. When she's hanging out with Reese Witherspoon and Jen Aniston, I'm meeting with Vicki Gunvalson. You really see where we are in this world."
Indeed.
