Stefano Langone says what separates the good singers from the great ones is "the performance." That's his goal for tonight.
Last week, he says he was at peace with the idea of going home. It's a good thing voters can't take out their frustration on him directly this week, but he's going to have to count on strong support from his fans to stick around.
Jimmy Iovine tells him he got his a** kicked last week. He wants to get the idea that he's going to lose out of his head: "I believe you can win, because you've got the chops to do it."
Stefano has chosen Boyz II Men's End of the Road (from Boomerang), which he hopes can help him connect with the audience and give him a fresh start. His performances are miles better than they were at the start of this show, and this is one of the better ones: He's keeping his eyes open, he's staying in his range (which he didn't do last week). It might be a good enough one to stay in the competition another week, but we'll have to see what everybody else does.
Randy thinks even Boyz II Men's singers will think he slayed the song. "I think that's your best vocal on this stage to date. ... Stefano's in it to win it!"
"You really know how to milk a song," Steven says. "This is so not the end of the road for you, this is just the beginning."
"You did it tonight," Jennifer says.
I bet you say that to all the guys.
Oh, wait -- they do.
