Marc Anthony, the top-selling Salsa artist of all time and husband of "American Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez, is mum on who thinks will win, but he has been keeping close tabs on the show.
"That's a tough one," he tells Zap2it. "And it's a tough one to answer. We have all seen it can go any way. I will reserve the right -- I won't comment on who I want.
"What I will say is the stable of talent this year is like none I have ever seen," Anthony continues. "That is a testament to the new process."
Lopez and Steven Tyler brought a new sensibility to the show, he says.
"Jennifer and Steven were sensitive in a different way to the realities of what it is to be an artist," Anthony says.
Sometimes just how much talent aspiring singers had wasn't always evident when, in past years, they picked the wrong songs.
This season had a far more open feel, he says, adding that lowering the age requirement worked to the show's advantage.
"We had 15-year-olds and 16-year-olds that were unbelievably phenomenally talented."
Anthony isn't just speaking as singer and actor or as the husband of a judge. He watched the show for nine years before Lopez came on board this season.
And, he was at "American Idol" as often as possible.
"Whenever I could, I would fly in after concerts," he says. "I would stop in to see my wife and family. I witnessed the process. It was different. Their sensibilities were totally different. The stable this year was hands-down was one of the most talented."
