Hitmaker Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins says he recently spent some time in the studio with celebrated American Idol castoff Pia Toscano, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and the sound of Toscano's debut record may be no surprise to anyone who witnessed her command of the stage and soaring vocals.
"It's a big, diva-sounding record," relays Darkchild. "It's what I think I do best — that big Whitney, Mariah, Celine vibe. We've having fun with that."
Jerkins plans to spend even more time working with Toscano this summer, in between stops of the American Idol tour.
He also reports that he's working on tracks for Lauren Alaina and this season's winner, Scotty McCreery. "I wrote five country songs last week," says the producer-songwriter.
Release dates for the Idols' albums are as yet unknown.
