My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has hit back at Glenn Beck after he warned American parents to be vigilant of the band's "propaganda" track Sing.
The right-wing TV personality took aim at TV show Glee's use of the song in a recent episode, insisting the characters in the show lack moral values and were singing an "anthem" full of anti-establishment propaganda.
He told viewers, "It is an anthem saying 'Join us'. How can you and I possibly win against that?"
But Way insists Beck was confused over the song's message, saying, "I think the word Glenn Beck was looking for was 'subversion' not 'propaganda', because I don't know what (the lyrics) would be considered propaganda for. Truth? Sentiment?
"I can't tell what he's angrier about - the fact that it's how I feel about the persistent sterilization of our culture or the fact that it's on network television for everyone to hear."
