Fast National ratings for Thursday, May 5, 2011
The "American Idol" results show improved significantly over last week's ratings, leading FOX to victory Thursday night. "The Office" began its life without Steve Carell with decent numbers, down from his farewell last week but better than the adults 18-49 numbers the show put up two weeks ago.
FOX averaged 15.95 million viewers and a 9.3 rating/15 share in households for the night, cruising to victory over second-place CBS (11 million, 7.0/11). ABC came in third with 7.2 million viewers and a 4.9/8. NBC (4.2 million, 2.6/4) finished fourth, beating out The CW's 2.3 million viewers and 1.5/2.
FOX's 4.7 rating among adults 18-49 led the demographic by a wide margin. CBS, 2.5, edged ABC, 2.4, for second. NBC came in fourth with a 2.0, while The CW drew a 1.0.
