{alltv} TV Ratings: President Obama's address turns Americans to their TVs

Fast national ratings for Sunday, May 1, 2011.

On the West Coast, programming was interrupted in favor of President Obama's address from the White House to announce the death of 9/11 mastermind, Al Quaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

Ratings across the board were higher than last week's, likely due to many Americans tuning in to watch the address.


The "America's Next Great Restaurant" finale totaled several million viewers more than its last Original episode. It's also notable that despite canceling its crossover event, FOX's rerun-heavy animation block was well received.

CBS had the highest average viewers (9.5 million and a 5.8/9 share). ABC came in second (8.6 million, 5.3/8), NBC in third (7.4 million, 4.5/7) and FOX in fourth (4.6 million, 2.6/4).

ABC won the 18-49 demo with a 2.5 rating, followed by NBC (2.4). CBS and FOX tied at 2.1.
