{alltv} 'Days of Our Lives' gay storyline: '90210' hottie heads to Salem

 

"Days of Our Lives" has been on the air for nearly half a century, but has never had a gay storyline... until now. Freddie Smith, who starred as recurring gay character Marco on the last season of "90210," will arrive in Salem on the June 23 episode to begin the first gay romance in the show's history.

Entertainment Weekly spoke with Smith about the new role. "There are a lot of guys on the show, so it's going to be interesting to see who I end up falling for. Someone new? Someone on the show?" he says. "We all make jokes, 'who am I going to make out with first?' It's going to be fun to see."

On "90210," Smith played the boyfriend of Trevor Donovan's character, but now that Donovan is no longer a regular cast member, we're unlikely to see much more of Smith.
