Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson says in the first few minutes of her new reality-documentary series that she never felt she "deserved" a royal life.
Well, duh. No one really does, Sarah.
Regardless, her rags-to-riches-to-rags saga is under the microscope with Finding Sarah, a six-part series that debuts Friday, June 17 on the Canadian version of the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
Sarah has taken such a big knife to her own reputation in the past couple of decades that we weren't expecting much from Finding Sarah. But if you're a royal-watcher at all, we have to say, there are some compelling moments in the first episode.
Sarah was a young "breath of fresh air" for the royal family when she married Prince Andrew in 1986. But it's fascinating to hear her say that in the first five years of her marriage, she saw Andrew only 40 days a year.
Sarah says she hit "rock bottom" in 2010 when she got caught in a newspaper sting seemingly taking a bribe in exchange for access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. In Finding Sarah, we get to hear what was going through the heads of Sarah and Andrew's daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, when they first heard about the scandal.

Perhaps the fact that Sarah would wind up doing a TV show with the likes of Oprah and Dr. Phil explains why she never quite fit in with the royal family. But that doesn't mean it's not interesting viewing.
