NBC and Hyperion Books have announced the publication of "Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America," a 240-page book "written, completed, researched, typed, collated, proof-read and run through spell-check" by Leslie Knope, Amy Poehler's unflappably upbeat Pawnee booster.
"The ever-expanding town of Pawnee has become its own character in our show, and we're thrilled that we got to accelerate that expansion in one giant, goofy 240-page comedy book," "Parks and Rec" co-creator Mike Schur says. "It's a complete portrait of Everytown, USA, which every reader -- whether a fan of the show or a newbie -- can enjoy."
The book -- is written from Leslie's point of view, but other characters will have their say as well. Readers will also get a complete list of past town slogans ("First in friendship, fourth in obesity," "The Akron of southwest Indiana," etc.), a recounting of the time the entire town was on fire and a discussion of the continuing raccoon problem.
Leslie's history of Pawnee was mentioned in the Season 3 episode "Time Capsule," but fortunately for us the only copy wasn't buried in the capsule. "Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America" hits bookstores on Oct. 4, right around the time "Parks and Rec's" fourth season debuts on NBC.
