It's the year of the A-list guest star -- according to the Emmys at least. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences handed out guest starring nominations to a slew of boldfaced names from the worlds of film, television and stage.
Gwyneth Paltrow snagged a guest actress comedy nomination for her role as a singing sub on Glee and Matt Damon's kooky pilot character from 30 Rock earned him a best supporting actor comedy nod.
More heavyhitters in the running include, Justin Timberlake (Saturday Night Live), Alfre Woodard (True Blood), Nathan Lane (Modern Family) and Zach Galifianakis (Saturday Night Live).
Thor hunk Idris Elba was having a doubly good morning with his guest actor comedy nomination for Showtime's The Big C and a best lead actor shoutout for the BBC miniseries Luther. "I'm beside myself, I really am," he tells USA TODAY.
