Sarah Jessica Parker is in her fourth decade of professional acting, and yet she still feels insecurity about her abilities.
"I lose my appetite," she tells Vogue. "By Wednesday of the first week on [the upcoming] I Don't Know How She Does It, I was sobbing, I was apologizing. I was feeling so awful and ashamed, like I had let the director down. If only they would not tell me when the camera was running, I would be OK. I'm like that two weeks into every movie."
Parker, 46, also reveals a bit of insecurity regarding the parenting of her twin 2-year-olds, Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge. "Honestly, the only thing that I'm concerned about is the energy: I hope I can maintain the energy. I think about all the years I've spent parenting [8-year-old son] James Wilkie and everything I put into it, and there are two of them."
Perhaps some of her concern comes from her self-described "hands-on" approach to parenting. Though she and husband Matthew Broderick employ a nanny for their twins and someone described in the article as "someone else to help with the logistics of 8-year-old James Wilkie's schedule," Parker says they don't have live-in help. She reasons: "What's the point in having a family if you're not going to really participate in it, you know?"
