Agnes Nixon was awarded the 2010 Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Award. She is one of the creators of both "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" and has writing credits for (among others) "Loving," "As the World Turns," "Another World" and "Guiding Light."
Because of her pivotal role in so many daytime programs, she is generally considered the queen of modern soap operas. Furthermore, she is credited with many of the socially-conscious storylines of daytime TV -- AIDS, alcoholism, gay/lesbian issues, etc.
Another queen of daytime, Susan Lucci, was on-hand to give the award to Agnes. Both Lucci and Nixon were choked up and seemed genuinely appreciative to be where they were standing. Congratulations to Agnes Nixon for her Lifetime Achievement Award on the year of "All My Children's" 40th anniversary.
