Jeremy London has filed restraining orders against his family members who've raised doubts about his claims he was kidnapped and forced to do drugs in Palm Springs.
"Jeremy filed these orders against his family for them to stop giving unauthorized interviews to the press," his attorney Catherine Lombardo tells PEOPLE. "What they've said is false, misleading and harmful to his personal reputation and career."
The former Party of Five star, 37, filed the restraining orders Wednesday in a Los Angeles court against his twin brother Jason, their mother Deborah Nielsen and Jason's girlfriend Sofia Karstens.
The London family has publicly questioned Jeremy's version of events – that he was kidnapped at gunpoint after several men helped Jeremy and his estranged wife Melissa Cunningham fix a flat tire. His brother Jason issued a public plea for Jeremy to seek psychological help.
"We believe what the family is saying is harmful to the ongoing investigation," says Lombardo. "The police have already arrested and charged a suspect in the case."
Suspect Brandon Adams, 26, has pleaded not guilty for the alleged kidnapping, and the investigation is ongoing. Police have said Jeremy London is not under suspicion in the case.
Jeremy recently opened up to PEOPLE about his struggle to stay sober, his bitter custody battle with Melissa over their son, Lyric, 3, and his widespread financial troubles.
Reached for comment about the restraining orders, Jason London replied, "A restraining order isn't going to make us stop worrying about Jeremy and only wanting the best for him," adding Jeremy has shut out his family for the past six months.
