In the upcoming NBC anthology-style show "Love Bites," Greg Grunberg plays Judd, a happily married guy with a lot of tattoos and a "celebrity exemption list" of people his wife says he's allowed to sleep with outside his marriage.
There's only one name on the list: Jennifer Love Hewitt. When Judd bumps into her on an airplane, he decides to take his shot. "I owe it to the fat kid from Philly who had a poster of Jennifer Love Hewitt in his room," he says.
Hewitt plays herself in the pilot episode. Zap2it recently spoke to Grunberg about working with the star. "I didn't know what to expect," he says. "I've been a fan of hers for a while. She's just, you know, gorgeous, so who knows what she's going to be like, right?"
Grunberg wasn't disappointed. "She's the sweetest, funniest, most accessible, generous actor I've worked with in a long time. I've been very lucky to work with great people, but she's right up there at the top of the list, now."
Zap2it saw Hewitt's episode at the NBC Upfront Presentation, and we'll just say that she gamely agrees to join the Mile High Club with Grunberg's character. "She's all about making it great. We had to be, uh, very intimate in the bathroom," Grunberg laughs. "She just threw herself into the comedy. Plus, come on, she played herself. You never know if someone's going to play a reserved version of themselves or whatever, but she just went for it."
"Of course," he adds, "it's not like it was too difficult for her. I'm a sexy beast."
Naturally.
Grunberg is currently in Chicago with Band from TV -- which includes familiar faces like Hugh Laurie, Jesse Spencer, and Adrian Pasdar -- to perform a benefit concert at The Vic for the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.
