Who better to play an unwed teenage mother on a show about an unwed teenage mother than the most famous unwed teenage mother around?!
Whew, that's a mouthful, but yeppers, we're talking about the one and only Bristol Palin. Controversial politico Sarah Palin's eldest pops up as—who else?—herself in this Monday's episode of Secret Life of the American Teenager, a gig she tells us she felt "obligated" to take on...
"I was excited to work with the cast and just to contribute to this show's message," says Bristol, referring of course to teen pregnancy and abstinence, topics close to her, um, heart.
"I feel obligated [to speak out] because I've lived through this experience...the more I talk about it and the more I can be hands on about it, the better I feel about myself."
But Bristol's acting debut isn't all about that self-imposed civic responsibility. Levi Johnston's ex just wants to have fun (in moderation, of course).
"I'm not an actress," she says, laughing. "I'll leave that up to the experts, but I had a great time here. I don't think I'll be doing any more acting in the future."
As for Mommy Dearest, Bristol tells us Sarah actually had no say in the matter. "She was excited, but it was just thrown at her," she explains. "'Hey mom, be in California for the day. I'm gonna go shoot this.'"
Secret Life fans might be geeking out about next week's guest star, but Bristol will not be tuning in. "I don't even want to see myself on TV! That's so weird," she spills.
(Note to Bristol: We've been watching you on our televisions for years now. Just go with the flow, girlfriend.)
Don't miss Bristol on an all new Secret Life of the American Teenager Monday, July 5 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
