BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Tom Selleck reminded everyone at the Television Critics Association tour that his signature series, Magnum P.I., never got the axe.
"Magnum was never cancelled," Selleck pointed out. "I kind of left it after eight years because I was tired from it, not tired of it."
The subject came up during a discussion of Selleck's new series Blue Bloods, which is a combination cop-procedural/family-drama that airs this fall on CBS and CTV. Selleck is part of a vast ensemble cast that includes Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Dylan Moore and Len Cariou, among others.
"(Blue Bloods) was an ensemble that clearly was going to require talented actors," said Selleck, 65. "And you know, having done a lead, as I did in Magnum (1980-88), I was in every shot. And I wasn't complaining, but it's a tough road."
