If award show history repeats itself, Glee may be walking away from the Primetime Emmys as a big winner.
The hit Fox musical-comedy, which nabbed awards at this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards and Golden Globes, is poised for a night of celebration, regardless of the outcome, with 19 nominations.
But AMC's Mad Men closely trails with 17 nods, and Emmy has a love of the series. True Blood, Dexter, Lost, Breaking Bad and The Good Wife will attempt to end the AMC drama's two-year reign in the outstanding drama series category.
If past ceremonies are any indication, the night won't be complete without a few laughs – Jimmy Fallon is hosting while Will Arnett, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais and Joel McHale are slated to present – or surprises.
The show could have viewers buzzing even from the start, when Kate Gosselin will reportedly get up and close with TV's biggest stars in an opening sequence with Fallon.
And while newlyweds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer will be making their an appearance as husband and wife at the telecast, will newly single Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss bring a plus-one?
At least one thing, however, that has been confirmed: Neil Patrick Harris and Betty White are already winners – and could be taking home more golden statues.
Having already picked up Creative Arts Emmys last week, the How I Met Your Mother star will return Sunday, where he's nominated for best supporting actor in a series, while White is up for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for her hit gig as SNL host.
The 62nd annual Primetime Emmys airs live Sunday on NBC at 8 p.m. ET from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
