{alltv} Survivor's Jill Calls Jane's Game Play "Vindictive" and "Nasty"

As the old saying goes, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Unfortunately for the La Flor tribe on Survivor: Nicaragua, Jane knew how to fish, but didn't feel like feeding anyone but herself. "That was infuriating," tribe mate Jill Behm tells TVGuide.com. "It's pretty hypocritical." After switching from tribes from Espada to La Flor, the older players had little to protect them from the majority. But instead of sticking by her original teammates, Jane left Jill and Marty out to dry and joined forces with the younger players. Jill, a 43-year-old ER doctor, talked to TVGuide.com about Jane's accusations, Marty's big move and her biggest mistake.

TVGuide.com: Why do you think you and Marty were never able to make a stronger alliance with the rest of La Flor?
Jill Behm:
Well I think it's probably a numbers game. With Jane, it was one person and one vote that they had to keep track of, and they didn't really need any of us [from the original Espada tribe]. If push came to shove, they weren't going to keep Jane over Fabio or Kelly, so it was just a level of buffers. If they wanted to get rid of somebody, getting rid of Marty, Jane and I would probably be the most logical thing. They were a pretty tight group, especially once they got rid of Kelly B. Marty and I definitely tried everything we could to make inroads with them and we were just not getting anywhere.

TVGuide.com: Going into Tribal Council, did you think it would be you going home or did you think it was Marty?
Jill:
I knew it would be me. Sash and Marty had the idol when they came and told me. I knew going in that there was almost nothing that I could do to talk my way out of it. The only hope I had was if they somehow changed their mind to vote out Marty to take away his claim to the idol, but that didn't happen.

TVGuide.com: Were you surprised that Marty gave Sash the idol?
Jill:
He asked me before he gave Sash the idol. He was like, "What should I do?" ... I told Marty, "It sounds like I'm going home no matter what, so if you use the idol, you'll just tick everybody off. At least if you give them the idol, there's the off chance that you may get it back and may curry favor with them." We were so behind at that point and there is only so much you can do in three days. Now having watched the episode and seeing how nasty everybody was, I'm thinking we should have played the idol, but whatever.

TVGuide.com: Do you agree with the comments Jane made about how she was on the outs of the original Espada tribe?
Jill:
Jane was on the outs of her own making. When she got to Espada, she aligned with Jimmy T., Wendy Joe and Holly. Then, Wendy Joe and Jimmy T. both went home, so it's really not Marty and my fault that her alliance was weak. That's her poor planning. We were never nasty to her. In fact, Jane had some minor medical stuff come up that I felt I assisted her with. So for her to say that we treated her like an ugly duckling, I just don't understand that at all. I think it's kind of vindictive and nasty. She's the one running off and hoarding food. For her to say that sort of stuff and then exhibit the behavior she's exhibiting speaks volumes.

TVGuide.com: What did you think when you saw her eat the fish all by herself?
Jill:
That was infuriating. I saw some people blogged, "Well, she caught the fish, she should be able to eat it." But people forget that although she was up at 5:30 a.m., someone was up all night keeping the fire going. I'm going to water to get her water jug filled up and cleaning the pots the next day. Marty and Kelly were crabbing, so it's not like everyone was sitting around on their butts. For her to be sneaking food, it's pretty hypocritical. We're not reaping the benefits of her fishing, but she's reaping the benefits of our hard work in terms of fire, water and shelter.

TVGuide.com: Was there anything in particular you could have done differently to stay in the game?
Jill:
To win Survivor, you either need an incredible amount of luck or you need to play a perfect game and I really had neither. My biggest glaring mistake that definitely would have kept me in the game longer was to have kept the hidden immunity idol secret and to myself. But not necessarily, because I suppose I could have been blindsided at some point, but that definitely would have bought me three more days. Then, next week is the merge and I may have been able to make inroads and alliances that Marty may not be able to do. Not keeping the idol for myself was huge.
