He's not exactly Dr. House, but on this Friday's "Supernatural" episode, Castiel (Misha Collins) will have to do the diagnostics.
In the clip below, Sam (Jared Padalecki) wakes up after Dean (Jensen Ackles) beat him up, bewildered to find that the guys who are usually on his side have got him tied to a chair. Dean doesn't have a lot of sympathy for Sam's confusion, but fortunately, Sam doesn't feel betrayed.
In fact, Sam doesn't feel much of anything, except for maybe his broken nose.
Sam has never been one to get a full eight hours of sleep -- over the last few seasons he's been plagued by nightmares, visions, and visitors... plus, he's snuck out of the motel while Dean was asleep on more than one occasion. Still, that seems like nothing when he reveals that he hasn't slept at all since he got out of hell.
"I just never told you," Sam tells Dean. We guess it must have just slipped his mind.
A few episodes back, Sam stood by calmly while Castiel tortured a young boy, searching for a brand on his soul. Sam might regret his nonchalance now, when Castiel performs the same procedure on him.
When it's revealed that Sam's soul is nowhere to be found, Dean is faced with a dilemma. Can he let his brother hunt now that he knows Sam is missing a conscience, compassion, and fear? He promises to watch every move Sam makes when they have to hit the road to help Samuel (Mitch Pileggi) work a job... but he's not the only one with his eye on Sam.
We'd guess that a soulless human being (especially one Sam's size) would make a pretty good monster.
